BACKGROUND

America’s Children was founded by New York City-based couples willing to co-parent their children, but not knowing
how to go about it.  After approaching various hurdles of conflict and not able to get over them, the group of
realized that they did not have sufficient parenting skills to engage in co-parenting.  They sought help but, to their
surprise, there was not much out there, particularly not in their neighborhood.  The few places that offered
parenting counseling were very costly or had too many requirements and conditions.  They questioned why this
service was not offered free of charge.  After all, the hardest job in the world should at least have free benefits.

Out of this need for guidance, the group of parents developed an interactive formula to gather information about
the needs of parents.  They organized with other parents who shared similar experiences to canvas the street with
their own two feet, surveying dads and moms for their opinions on what would help them become better parents.
The research revealed parental neglect, family separation, domestic abuse, stressed out parenting and
untraditional parenting figures:  a new breed made up of grandparents, aunts, uncles and older siblings taking on
the role of parent.  America’s Children held neighborhood public forums, public rallies and free networking events
all in order to supply the demand for free education and information for parents and families.

MESSAGE TO VIEWERS

B clear.

America’s Children is community-based, not community-placed.  We chose to be in the neighborhood not because
we have to, but because we want to.  It doesn’t matter how much revenue our organizations generates, we choose
to remain where we started and where we belong -- in the neighborhood.

MISSION STATEMENT

Our mission @ America's Children is to inform and educate parents of minor children and young adults about what
it really means to truly invest in the best interest of their child by committing themselves to completing our wide
variety of parenting programs and workshops.  We hope to achieve better parenting and decision-making abilities
in families and, as a result, healthier children.  Once parents are able to stand on their two feet without us and
government intervention, our mission is then complete.
